Former Tycoon's to Become Hotel

April 18, 2021

Duluth's former City Hall is to become a five-star hotel and hostel. The building, located at 132 E. Superior St., was designed by respected architect Oliver Traphagen and built in 1886. Duluth businessman Rod Raymond intends to open for business this summer. He previously converted historic Endion Station, a former railroad depot now located in Canal Park, from a restaurant to a boutique waterfront hotel. The hotel will include a special Council Chamber Suite overlooking Lake Superior with a large fireplace and bar stocked with Brewhouse craft beer. The 13-room hotel will also include four affordable hostel-style rooms and a beautiful Scandinavian-designed sauna. The existing Wasabi restaurant, the Rathskellar speakeasy and Evolve hot yoga and Spin Studio will remain in the building.
